Welcome to Gordon Sneddon Art
Thank-you for visiting my website.
I'm a self-taught artist who has been painting in watercolours for over 30 years.
Since moving down to West Dorset with my family around twenty years ago, I have been continually developing my own unique style – based on a love of vibrant colour and strong lines which has been inspired by the fishing villages and resorts along the South West coast. As you can see from my galleries I have painted many watercolours of Dorset, Devon and Cornwall as well as some in Scotland.
My style aims to maximise the clean, transparent hues of watercolour paints within bold compositions and an unusual use of perspective.
I employ a range of techniques and other media to extend the scope of my work beyond that of more traditional watercolours.
I have also spent time exploring more abstract themes, but over the last year have focused on pure watercolours.
My fascination with colour developed during many years working in the printing ink industry.
Another formative source of inspiration for me is the fishing villages on the East coast of my native Scotland.
I hope my paintings present a view of the local landscape which is at once both familiar and different and that they will find a place in many homes in the UK and overseas.
I currently exhibit my work at the Cove Gallery in Weymouth, Art Unlimited in Bridport and Art and Beyond in Beaminster
